I have a new blog and I want to know how many times a day should I update my content?
You certainly don't need to update your blog multiple times each day.
Here is what I do that works well for me:
If I am building a blog that I want to build up a regular readership for (a bunch of people who come back to the site regularly) then I will publish a new blog post once per week on the same day around the same time. The reason that I do that is because those regular visitors want fresh content to read and talk about. If you don't give that to them, then they will stop visiting. In most of those cases with those types of blogs, I am sure I would be better off posting a new blog post every few days instead of just once per week. But it is hard for one person to generate that many interesting blog posts every time. Your blog posts tend to suffer in quality if you blog that often. At least that has been my experience.
Having said all of that....
I hate building blogs that require constant updating like that. I hate it because then it becomes a job for me that I have to do every week. So instead....
I prefer building small authority blogs centered around one specific topic. There are only so many things that you can say about one specific topic. So what I do, is I write a bunch of blog posts discussing every popular subtopic about that primary topic. I publish all of those blog posts at once. Then I don't need to publish any new blog posts on that site ever again. I am basically done with that site.
Over time I might come back to that site and rewrite one or two of the blog posts. Maybe I will think up an idea for a new blog post that I should have written before. Then I will write that post and publish it. Maybe I will dress up the site a bit and modify something to make the site a little better somehow. But for the most part, the site is not updated. It just runs its course for the life of the site for however long that is. And if you are writing about evergreen topics, then those sites basically never go out of style. The content is applicable day after day, week after week, month after month, year after year.
So you never really need to update them again. They just keep attracting new traffic and keep making money for years and years, pretty much indefinitely so far.
I think that is a much better business model than creating a blog that you have to pump out high quality blog posts for week after week. That gets really old really fast.
And just so you know, those sites get ranked well in Google and earn free traffic because of it. And those sites will maintain good rankings as long as I get some good links for the site. If my inbound links disappear or get nullified by Google, then the ranking goes down a little. But I can just get a couple of new "good" links and the sites bounce right back. If the links are good enough and stay pretty much permanently, then I basically never have to promote the site again. It takes care of itself and the income from the site becomes truly passive. It works out really well as long as I do excellent on-page and on-site SEO right from the start with the website. Then it will rank at the top or very close to the top for whatever keywords I am targeting. And it stays there year after year after year.
