For the default setting in WP, it has rss feed link but on my client website, they didn't have rss feed and they required to have this function because they think it's helpful for SEO
what can I say to them about RSS? will RSS Feed help website rank better?
Thanks in advance.
So the main way of thinking about an RSS being beneficial for SEO is that you are going to be getting links to your pages from these RSS aggregation websites. And people think that maybe those links are going to help them rank higher. That is why they think RSS might be beneficial for SEO.
Here is how I would answer your questions:
- Are the links that you get from a site that aggregates RSS feeds going to be links that are trusted by Google?
- Are the links that come from this RSS aggregation website going to be dofollow or nofollow links?
- How much link juice is going to pass from a link from an RSS aggregation website over to your site? Is it going to be a meaningful amount at any time whatsoever?
- Are the pages on this RSS aggregation site even indexed in Google? Will the pages that link to my site be indexed in Google? If so, for how long?
- Are any of the RSS aggregation sites going to send you any traffic at all?
- Are there any RSS aggregation sites in my niche that might be worthwhile to submit my feed to?
Those are the kinds of questions you should ask be asking yourself about whether or not it is worthwhile to submit your RSS feed to an aggregation website. In general, the only real benefit you might get from submitting to one of those sites is the benefit of faster indexation because Google sees a link pointing back at your site right away. And depending on the quality of the aggregation site, you might get a very temporary benefit that lasts a matter of minutes or maybe a day or two. But submitting sites to a typical RSS aggregation site is not something I would consider to be a worthwhile SEO tactic at all.
If I was running a news blog that is time sensitive, then yes I would definitely do it. If I was running any other type of site, I would not bother.
