Sure it's important as with all social media networks. With linkedin you need to make connections and then post your blog to the feed. The more connections the more people will see your post. Groups are just as important i would imagine though I dont have much experience with it. Good luck!

yes, Linked in Plays a vital role as Social media to drive traffic to your sites. To drive better traffic, you should take care of your posts which should not be only ad or marketing purpose. It must have some information sothat it would be worth reading for Linked In users. Linked is a social media which are widely used in business purpose. Linked in is the only social media in which you can find very few fake profiles so you just got proper traffic to your business.

I would try and use other social media sites like twitter or facebook, unless your audience is only looking at LinkedIn, which i doubt. Linkedin has a very specific membership (ie professionals) so if your content tends to be something that a professional will want to read then its a good place to post. Twitter is just way broader and your audience will be alot bigger then on other sites, especially then niche sites like LinkedIn

I have used LinkedIn before, create a profile, join a few groups and post a few posts. By that, you can get more traffic to your website.

Unfortunately, I didn't get much traffic as I expected. Maybe my niche doesn't work with LinkedIn or the groups I have joined aren't good to promote my websites. But if you want to have around 100 visitors / day for your website, you should try. That's amount I have received. As I said, it's not much as I expected.

Well then you need to keep going. If you're at 100 a day from LinkedIn that is not bad. 100x7 is 700 per week x4 is 2800 REAL visitors per month. Good on you just keep going. Success doesn't happen overnight in most cases it takes continued effort on your behalf. The thing is with LinkedIn it doesn't really matter what your niche is, if you can show you're an authority in that niche its the place to be on every day.

I think a read a quote on Forbes once that went something like "never go a single day with out doing some kind of social promotion". Whether it be a simple tweet or adding someone on LinkedIn, just keep going and don't give up and growing those numbers. Keep at it Newsdeals!

Now LinkedIn is probably the only Social Media site I can't warp my head around and use as a way to promote my site.
Is it really worth investing my time in LinkedIn?

Impossible to say. Depends on what you put in to it. Just like any social platform, it takes work to see a return. Know I don't put enough time into my linkedin account.

And as already mentioned, depends on who you target audience is.

Just like all social sites you need to connect, build relationships, interact, put up more content that marketing, good profile, ect.

I've found it can be easier if you blog, network and connect through blogging, then the same people will be more receptive (and some will seek you out) on LinkedIn. Seems like a good combination for me.

put up more content that marketing
Should we add articles to drive traffic from LinkedIn?
good profile
How a good profile help us improve traffic to a website?

In my point of view, LinkedIn is a good place for freelancer and website owners to find people in the same their niche such as web designer, web hosting provider, SEO specialist or marketing consultants

I personally have not posted articles directly on LinkedIn, though I see others doing it and it reminds me that I should as well. I usually just share content from other people I know, like other bloggers. Not only because I think it's good content but because when I share their stuff, they share mine.

A good profile is where it all starts. You get to showcase what you do, or what you have to offer. Course do it in a spammy way and you could turn people off. It can also start to build trust. They see you, what you do, get to know about you, and might think, this person seems legit, I should check out what they have. Half the battle in selling anything is getting people to trust you enough to give you their money, or just the opposite.

LinkedIn one of the better sites for profiles if you ask me, you can really build it up nicely. Give them compelling reasons (start selling them) to check out your stuff.

From what I've seen they have a wide variety of users, pretty much every part of the spectrum. I see many internet marketers and bloggers for example. I wonder if too many people write them off, thinking it's just mostly stuffy business types. It's far from that.

Most importantly it can be a great way to connect, a great way to network. Something most people don't do. Last year or two I've done a lot more blogging, and networking can make such a difference. I've had people ask me to guest post on their blogs, they came to me. I've been included in round ups and special events. I have people that willingly comment on and share my content. I've made contacts and friends that could be helpful in the future. I don't say any of this to brag, not like it's made me rich, I am ONLY saying, networking and making connections is something I believe SO many markets miss out on. Don't do enough of it myself.

But I am no social guru, so these are just my opinions. :)

LinkedIn Groups are a good way to get free traffic to your blog. You just have to find the right groups and be an active member.

Another good way to get some free traffic to your blog from LinkedIn - is with very valuable articles. You can publish articles on LinkedIn Pulse. This is a great way to brand yourself and your blog online.

You just have to share good and valuable articles very often - and the numbers will add up! ;)

Based on my experience it's sometimes hard to publish regularly your blog posts in LinkedIn Groups, because people think that's a spam. I provided unique, valuable content with different headlines everywhere and they banned me twice (it's enough when just one person will mark it as spam).

Believe me that I try to post in groups only articles with sumilar subjects to the groups (eg. if I post an article about project management, I choose only project management groups). That's why I don't know why they banned me, especially that I have never been agressive with my product promotion.
