Is it worth it to direct paid traffic to my Youtube videos? I am thinking
of maybe starting with Facebook ads for $ 20 and see how that works out
before I invest more money. What do you think? Is it worth it? Will it
translate to more traffic to my site?

I would direct traffic to my own page(s) or landing page(s)with my videos (playlists)in it. That way you can pay for a targeted audience, not just for blind views. I don't know what's your main purpose though.

If your revenue model is youtube ads then NO, Organic reach is much more valuable than the traffic from ads, I would recommend spending the ads money to improve your videos.

If you are doing content marketing and using videos to attract customers attention and want to build one network larger then it might work.
