Should I build a mobile website or a mobile app?

Most businesses will want to build or optimize their websites for mobile rather than build an application. Think of the fundamental reasons your customers would visit your website, especially if they're on the go. Make sure that on a phone or tablet screen your site's navigation is easy to use, there's no need for unnecessary zooming or scrolling, and the main things your audience wants are easy to locate.

I will suggest that having a mobile site is enough for any business rather than building a application. I think when your site has loyal audience in thousands on daily bases than application would help you to make them continue on smartphone.

I agree Mobile version of the site is fine unless your getting thousands of visitors. Some sites have mobile apps because they feel it's better in their opinion. But then again it's up to the webmaster to make that decision.

Yes Totally Depend On the Client .Many of us go for mobile view of website and number are going the mobile app . Mobile Apps are Created for performing a Specific task are platform dependent while a Mobile website is platform independent "format your online content to display on a variety of different mobile devices using whatever web browsers are installed on those devices".
