Hello! I disagree with you. Of course, when you add links at general directories that are not moderated and that had no instrict value, you got no traffic, but only a link from sub- sub- sub-....page.
However, when you get a link from niche directory, focused on topic and that is moderated and well-maintained, your link will be valuable one (not only for search engines). Niche and topic directories are visited by ordinary internet users, as well.
