Are backlinks on adult sites bad for SEO?

Some SEO people said if your site is putted on adult sites through backlinks then it can affect to your SEO rankings. Is that true? my question is Are backlinks on adult sites really bad for SEO? if yes why?

Well unless your site is an adult site in the same niche, the link is not going to be relevant to your site at all. So it's sure not going to help.

Adult is adult, except if you are high authority site. I had a health site which was linked from a adult forum and that link still exists. But it never affected rankings. Link existence is now reaching 6 yrs. Plus the link was from a related thread though the forum was explixitly adult.

Yes, if we are getting backlinks from adult sites, then it is harmful for ranking. Even Google may penalize your site if it has gained backlink from adult sites. But your site itself is adult, and then getting backlink from adult site which is having good authority is different matter. But in general, getting backlinks from adult sites are not good at all in Google prospective.

I don't think google has a problem with it, the only problem is when you suddenly put a million backlinks all in once and then they know it's a bot and penalize you.

It is not bad but why more people wanted to push many links of competitors' sites into adult sites to decrease SEO rankings.
