Guest posting is a major way to get backlinks these days. However, though, should the backlinks be one-way? Note, back when link exchanges were in fashion, one-way links were considered very powerful - while two-way exchanges didn't seem to do much. Anyway, I'd assume that bought guest blogging posts would be one-way.

Oh, by the way, as another subject, do you think that the buying of guest posts is buying links. Isn't Google against that? Why does it seem like they haven't cracked down on guest posting?

Guest Posting is one of the best ways to increase authority and gaining quality backlinks for your site. You have to submit your guest post on high authority websites that are relevant to your niche. Don't do guest posting for backlinks only as it will harm your site.

Noob here. May I ask how guest posting for backlinks can harm your site? Also, I am seeing a lot of forum or blogs who do guest posting. Are they aware of the harmful thing which you are saying? Cheers!

Guest posting won't harm you if you do it effectively. You have to provide high quality content. Some people try to guest post only for creating backlinks and it does not provide any value. If you are doing quality guest post on high authority website relevant to your niche than it will give you a Good SEO score.

Guest posting is a great way to promote your website as well as get good backlinks, as long as you do it the right way. There are plenty of good websites who simply provide a one way, do follow link if you write a guest post for them. In fact, that's how the top websites like kissmetrics, mashable do it.

Then there are low quality blogs that ask for a reciprocal link or payment for publishing your guest post. Stay away from such sites. No good marketer will publish their content on such sites. Consequently, these sites end up with tons of low quality content and have low authority. Ultimately, backlinks from such sites don't help much.

Note that owning some blogs and allowing people to do guest posting on them seems to be a very slick way to make money. However, though, as you would expect, to command the highest prices and to avoid being seen as a bad neighborhood, one would need to make sure that the DA and PA of the blogs are very high. However, and sorry to go off-topic, but I have to wonder how one can increase thier DA and PA?

DA and PA does not tell you if you are in a bad neighborhood or not. They are 3rd party metrics that have nothing to do with how Google sees things.

And to answer your other questions...

Google is not against paid links. They are link schemes setup for the purpose of manipulating PageRank. If someone charges you to be featured on their website, that is fine. If you sign up for some silly "guest posting service" that promises to put your article on hundreds of high PR blogs, that is something different.

One-way links are more effective. Reciprocal links are dumb.

I think this way is just a way to decrease number of requests for guest blogging on their blog but you am considering them as low quality blog. So, only blogs that are accepting free guest blog posts are considered as high quality blogs and worth having links on them?

Yes, guest posting can get you backlinks. However, you need to consider the reputation of the blog/website where you will be doing guest post. If the website is lowly rannked than yours, guest posting will not help you in getting traffic from the backlink. Furthermore, if the website where you are doing guest post gets less traffic than yours, there is no point in doing guest blogs. It will be better if you publish that post on your own blog and try to build backlink by blog commenting instead.

Guest Posting is one of the best methods to enhance power and getting quality back-links for your website. You have to publish your guest publish on high power sites that are appropriate to your market. Don't do guest posting for back-links only as it will damage your website.

Guest post is a powerful tool to build your backlink. However, as we all know, it's not easy to successful to submit the article to the high authority sites. If you want to buy the guest post services from the others, you should check their website carefully, such as the backlinks, previous content...

Not all free guest blogging sites are high quality. If you read a couple of articles on those sites, you'll immediately know if they're good or not. Also, see if their articles are shared a lot, or have lots of comments. It means that blog has an active reader community.
I totally agree with Sree31 on this one. You should always go over the site and read content that is locating to your niche and if you have something good to say that links back to your website, blog or forum then this is what you call a good backlink.

In regards to finding specific blogs for guest posting, a typical spying session, legally and ethically, of course, might let you exactly which guest posting backlinks are effective. In that case, you simply have to figure out how your competitors got backlinks on those websites and how you can also get them. Nonetheless, the tools for checking out backlinks are not free and the limited versions don't tell you much. Note, they include websites like Majestic, Moz, ahrefs, etc..

Yes Agree with many of you, that guest posting is the good and popular way for creating backlinks in these days, but if you did not follow the basics of seo in guest posting then it will harm your rankings. Means you need to find Goold HQ Blog, related to your niche and a good HQ and uniqe content, mens people get help from your content, not write only to get backlink.

Reciprocal links are not as bad as some people make out. It is completely natural for 2 blog owners to become friends and start posting links to each others stuff. After all, linking out to content that you like and is useful is the basis of the Internet.

The problems arise when these links make up a large percentage of your backlink profile, have unnatural anchor text, or a large number of them are from low quality sites. A few reciprocal links, to different pages on the websites, from high authority sites should not do any harm.
