This will hurt your site with Google if it's directly copying from other websites not to mention plain out COPYING and if Google finds this out not only will it harm your rating it may BAN your website. Also if someone reports the content on the site with out giving credit the website can sue for Copyright. Many websites are protected under DMCA which website owners launch a take down and if the site can prove they own the content they will get it taken down and then your site most likly will be black listed. So if you want to risk your site for not writing your own content take that risk but then you have no one to blame if your site gets banned.

Yes, very true.

Plain out copying other peoples creation is wrong. At the same time a topic such as news is news to the public. There could be 20 websites trending on the same issue that has recently happened.

Therefore we can determine that one can only go so far in determining duplicate content. Plus, DMCA's are not always legit, as used as a means to stifle competition in a given niche.

Yep Thats's true I don't get why people just want to copy others work instead of writing their own.

The answer is simple.

The path of least resistance is always the quickest / easiest.

I have caught several people who just plain out copy the text, style, format without even renaming certain tags etc...

Makes for an entertaining evening at times, others a more frustrating one.

True that I saw a script offered here and it was removed by CodeCanyon xD no wonder why but people use blackhat methods.
