SEM is Search Engine Marketing and is a more comprehensive concept than SEO - Search Engine Optimization. Basically, SEO is included in SEM, is one of the ways to achieve company objectives.
A Search Engine Marketing campaign includes, among others:
- SEO
- Pay Per Click
- Promotion in social sites (Digg, del.icio.us, etc.)
- Making the optimization results in SERPS
For example, you SEM composition of titles of pages that invite the visitor to click on them (usually the title page appears in search results, so the first item you see who performed the search).
The SEM can say is aimed at creating a brand online, which means far more traffic than obtained through SEO techniques.
