Affiliate marketing is a way of spreading a product to people who might have an interest in buying it. They find various parties who show an interest in what the company has to offer, and they receive a share of the revenue according to whatever they’re able to contribute.
There are three parties that are involved in the process:
Many affiliate programs go through a network, which has a list of merchants that the affiliate can sign up for, and it serves as an intermediary between the affiliate and the merchant. Sometimes affiliates have to go through an affiliate network before they can promote a product. And they can even make affiliate income Amazon, which has a fantastic program with a vast line of products that they can promote.

- The Merchant – Sometimes called the creator, it’s the company that’s offering the product.
- The Affiliate – Sometimes called the publisher, it’s the person who is promoting the product.
- The Consumer – The person who buys the product, and it’s the one who makes the proverbial wheel turn.
