What you have said is correct. There are many online providers available for hosting service. Among those choosing the best is so difficult. But we can find them easily by considering some factors like existence of the company, customer service and support, customer reviews, price, quality, server up time etc...

Its better to review about the 1st wen hosting company according to your site's requirement ,then you have to analise about the technology with that service provider with support service.Specially try to review there support service ,because this is the most focused point for choosing a web hosting provider.

First you match your requirements with the available web hosting sites present in the market. If you got some sites that fulfill your needs then select best among them on the basis of Bandwidth, disk space, server uptime, technical support and you will get all this information on the net you just need to Google it out.

For a web hosting provider support and availability are the most important criteria .

There are various good hosting companies. Which is the best one, It totally depends on best matching of your requirements and services provided by companies. Look into a company’s specialty or area of expertise before you buy and read some customer Reviews

Look through reviews of the companies you plan to have a deal.
But there are some companies which can be used with no hesitations, these are a2hosting, hostgator and ifastnet.

Don't forget to make good use of test period (it shouldn't be shorter than 10-14 days). If you feel that something is missing don't hesitate to call helpdesk, or create a ticket through e-mail.
You have to check the quality of support personally.

btw. for me personally disk quota and transfer parameters aren't that important as daily backups, how long are they stored, and possibilities of restoring them. Don't forget that you will make it no matter what hosting you will have to mess with. But choosing a difficult host (cheap costs, no support, complicated management & billing) for a non technical client - for whom you build a website based on a CMS - and ceasing services after some time, leaving him alone, should be punishable.

It's necessary to find as much info related to your future choice as you can and only after that make a decision.

Location is a key thing to consider. Not always a host with servers closest to you, but closest to the majority of your audience.

Find a few providers, ensure they offer money back guarantees and reach out to them. Evaluate the answers you get and the response time and then base a decision on that.

If it doesn't work out, you should be able to claim a no hassle refund and move to the next on your list.

Also, choose your plans wisely. If you are a beginner, it is better to pay a fully managed plan, than to hire a server administrator and pay him by hour.

It sounds like he wanted a shared hosting package and not a VPS/Dedicated server and if so, your comment is irrelevant here. The servers would be managed by the hosting provider, no root access given to the client.

When you compare a couple of hosting providers that meet your budget and tech requirements, go and check for customer feedback. There is plenty of information in Google, Yahoo or specialized hosting directories. You will surely see if the provider is reliable, if answers to tech issues quickly, if meets the uptime numbers promised on the index and if customers like it. So, go and check for hosting reviews about your man:
-Hosting reviews at BestHostsDirectory
-WebHostingstaff reviews
-HostSearch reviews
Yes, that's right. To find hosting provider, we need the review from users so we can find out the best hosting provider that suits our requirement. :)

Yes, it is not easy to select a good web hosting service. If you are new then you have to know all the things which is important before selecting a web hosting service. You have to focus on following things:

# Too Few Databases: some web hosting provider has provided too few database space since I to 5 database but it should be 10 database into one WordPress installation.

# Too Few Domains Allowed: YOu should have 5 domain at least, but some web host provide 5 domains with 1 database only.

# Crappy Developer Support: always see support for MySQL, PHP, Ruby on Rails etc.

There are few things you need to keep in mind before buying any web hosting. You must take care that they are giving much space in their package or not, make sure the database should should not be few, they must allow few domains, check they are giving software updates or not. The server should be manageable by the hosting provider.

You are right.
We can not expect good developer support from newbie hosting providers.
I think first of all we need to know what is our requirement for a web hosting account. Once we know our own requirements, then it will be much easy to select a reliable web hosting provider.

There are some important factors here you should consider before choosing any web hosting company.
Price, area of focus, tech specs, tech support, features, hardware, customer review, email features, control panel.
