Google Authorship was discontinued years ago. Some portions of that still show up in Structured Data Markup.

Google Authorship is established when you link your Google+ profile with your content. This two-way connection verifies ownership.

Google created authorship tags to attribute content to an author via a website’s HTML. These structured data tags are a way to claim authorship through reciprocal links to and from a Google profile.

The most obvious benefit used to be seeing your Google+ profile image next to your authored content in Google's search results.

Hello
Definition: Google Authorship was a Google program (now formally discontinued) that enabled authors to identify themselves with rich HTML snippets embedded that were visible in enhanced search results. Google Authorship was active for roughly three years, beginning in 2011 and officially discontinued in June 2014.

The Google Authorship Tag is a hidden text attribute that can be added to any web page or blog post to indicate who wrote it. When someone clicks on the link, they will be taken to the GoogleAuthors website, where they can learn more about the author and see their other work.
The benefit of using this tag is twofold. Firstly, it helps improve your credibility as an authority in your field by showing that you are well-respected by Google. Secondly, including this tag could help boost traffic from search engines, as people who click on links may look for insight into the author's background or expertise.

Authorship refers to the inclusion of an author connected to a piece of content, and usually a picture and bio of them as well. When applied to SEO, authorship signals authority over the topic. Simply put, authorship is a trust factor for the end-user experience, and this trust can be leveraged.

According to me, Google Authorship is a feature in search engine optimization (SEO) that allows content creators to associate their work with their Google+ profile. The purpose of Authorship is to provide authors with increased visibility in search results by displaying their profile picture next to their content.

The Authorship tag is a piece of code that you add to the HTML of your website to establish the connection between your content and your Google+ profile. This tag takes the form of a rel="author" tag that links from your website to your Google+ profile.

To use Authorship, you must have a Google+ profile and have claimed authorship of your content through the Google Search Console. Once Authorship is established, your profile picture and byline will appear next to your content in search results, providing additional information and context for users.

Google Authorship has been discontinued by Google, so it is no longer possible to add the Authorship tag to your website or claim authorship through Google+.
