Why Header is very important in design of a webpage?

As all of us knew that header of a website is very important in web design today :smart:, but why ? then It's thing I sure all of us here may not know . According to you, why Header is very important in design of a webpage?

Think of it like an advertising board. The most valuable space you have is the top half of your homepage. You shouldn't waste this space with big banners that doesn't deliver. You should make sure it is attractive enough that people want to stay and browse your site. If you have a boring header that does not say much, people leave your site quickly. Tell them what is your site about and how you can help. Also, place your offers at the top. I don't mean to use the whole space with ads but even small you need to put in front of people.

Also, Google doesn't like sites that are top heavy with advertisements and content pushed down on the page. Keep this in mind.

That's great information about website header from your advice, according to you, what should we show on top web header to get best effective ?
as I saw more sites using top menu, logo, subscriber box, search box...include into their header.

I would think what is most important for you and try to put it on the top left hand corner because there is the area eyes goes first as soon as a website opens up. Then, you need to have a logo and menu of course. And you should start your content at least from the half line of the top half (the section that you see without scrolling). This is my opinion.

As per my opinion I think you shouldn't spend this area with big banner ads that doesn't suites at all. You should really make sure that the ads are really eye-catching enough that individuals want to remain and surf more and more on your website. If you have a tedious headlines that does not say much, individuals will exit your website in just a matter of time
