Greetings fellow members!

Inquestor had brought this idea for a thread, and I want to hear YOUR opinion!

Back in the day, Google was just mainly a search engine... But now, their ever growing power is astounding, and has become rather unsettling for a lot of people, including Webmasters, online Freelance workers, etc.

Everything surrounds Google nowadays. Cellphones, apps, etc. Anything to do with ONLINE, guaranteed GOOGLE is behind it. For example... You're searching for Generators because you're thinking about purchasing one... The next day, you check your Facebook account, and what ads do you see? They are ALL about what you had searched the day before.

How does this happen?

Google plants COOKIES on your device (laptop, desktop, mobile device, etc) and TRACKS your EVERY move, to monitor you spending habits and your interests. Creepy?

As forum members, whether you are Webmasters OR online Freelancers (even shoppers), how do you deal with this? What's your opinion? If you feel like ranting a bit, go ahead (just keep it clean please!)

Glad I could be an inspiration for this thread ;)

Now, speculation, false accusation or not. This is the latest to come out of Google's "Don't Be Evil" oxymoron

[URLnf="http://www.cnet.com/news/new-lawsuit-accuses-google-of-adsense-fraud/"]Google Adsense Fraud[/URLnf]

It's been about 3 weeks since the "supposed" former Google Adsense employee anonymously leaked information on pastebin about how Google actually sees and treats their publishers.

[URLnf="http://pastebin.com/qh6Tta3h"]See leak here[/URLnf]

I'm not saying this is true, but damn there are some good points in what was published on pastebin.

Now, a class action against Google for anyone in the USA who's Adsense has been banned before payout is in the works. I suggest those affected join up with this to see what happens. I have never had my account banned yet plus I am from Canada so I can't join :(

I haven't had the honour of dealing with AdSense or AdWords, myself, though I have thought about it on occasion. If they did screw me, like you Inquestor, I am from Canada, so I wouldn't be able to sign S**t...lol

My better half, however... Uses AdWords, and AdSense (He's been a Webmaster way longer than myself), and he hope's Google pays for everything they have done. I hear him talk ill of them A LOT!! And, to be honest, it's justified. I couldn't imagine having money stolen from me... That helps feed my family and pays my bills... &*^%$#@%^^& :D

I have read so many stories about Google and their sly ways, the way they have pretty well taken over the entire online world, not giving anyone a fair chance to survive online, and monitoring every thing we do is just ridiculous. Google maps is a BIG example... With some pictures, I can see right through the freakin' window!! Imagine if the people were getting dressed, or what if they didn't want their property on Google maps?

I've had my cellphone now for about a year (Samsung Android), and I've been leaving my internet running on a steady basis. I noticed, every time I took pictures, I would hear this dinging sound coming from my phone shortly after...

I was absolutely horrified to see that, once again... My privacy was out the window because Google being helpful (like they always are...) Stored my pictures in my inactive Google Plus account! Now before I take pictures, I have to make sure I'm not connected AND remain disconnected until the pictures are off my phone, because if I don't then it will automatically update.

I can't even delete them out of there either!
Grrrrrrrrrr.........

Well, the thing is Google's technology has grown very superior but ultimately it's up to us that chooses which search engine to use for search. It's really amazing how effective socialism can be when it comes to business, word-of-mouth. The people gives it its power Google have grown nothing but trust.

Most of the time, however, you don't have any control over it. Breach of privacy is everywhere. Sure you can choose which search engine to do your research, but just about every site you go on, every site your create, every cellphone, or online software, etc almost always has to do with Google :S

I was checking on my metatags earlier yesterday, and I became FURIOUS... Well... That's a bit of an exaggeration, but I'm sure you get my point.

My metatags are correct and are as they should be... But what Google sees as my tags are two entirely different things. Since the algorithm change, they've been choosing random words out of the CONTENT for the metatags.

A person takes the time to set all the metatags to where you need them to be for "SEO" purposes, but now I am firmly believing that, "SEO" is going to be a thing of the past. A person works so hard on their sites, only for Google to come around to screw everything up for you.

Thoughts??
