August 29, 2014 Google officially announced that it is retiring from web search API.

On November 1, 2010, we announced the deprecation of the Web Search API. As per our policy at the time, we supported the API for a three year period (and beyond), but as all things come to an end, so has its deprecation window.

Now on wards we have to use Google custom search. It is also having a limit of 100 searches per day under free quota. More than 100 Google searches will not be allowed.

Google is closing down the old applications and introducing more advanced application. It is more concentrating on business development instead of user's choice. Because Google already earned good rating from web users.
