Hello

Can anyone let me know why Owner on my FTP program is still not changed, it is still showing ftp when I open with FTP program

change_group_in_ftp.jpg

although I used chown command

# chown -R myusername.myusername /path/to/myfolder/*
I only got this problem when using Directadmin on my VPS, with cPanel/WHM everything is ok.

can anyone explain for me why? and how to solve this?

Hey,

First off, which FTP program are you using? Might I recommend WinSCP.
Secondly, it is possible that this is being set automatically by Direct Admin as per it's configuration.
Try with WinSCP, check what it says.

I'm using CuteFTP 8.0 Pro

Use chown -R user:group Folder/filename
I filled user:group with my admin account name which I created for my package on VPS

what is user and group here?

Valid point -- Just notice he was using a '.' rather than ':', I guess my eyes are failing me today ;)
There has any differences between "." and ":" here?

@Jovani,

One thing you are going to need to consider is whether Apache is going to be able to read the file in which you are saving, if it is part of a website that is. Usually this is a set configuration and should not be tampered with.
