Its also important to realize that traffic and targeted traffic are two different things.... I would prefer a much smaller amount of traffic which is targeted and converts with sales than a ton of traffic from unrelated sites which does nothing.... So with that in mind I would focus on:

1) Identify your ideal customer
2) Ensure your website content reflects your target audience - keyword research, content building etc....
3) Implement monetization

Traffic:
------

4) Identify where your target audience hang out e.g. what forums, social groups and top ranking websites...
5) Place ads for point (4) or post guest article or for forums place a special offer in addition to ads ....

SEO:
6) With keyword research implement website silo - with adding relevant content which targets keywords...
7) Get backlinks - (too many methods to mention here - but ideally from highly relevant/authority websites) and not spammy ones which can hurt your rankings...

Social:
8) Get on to social platforms and find groups which relate to your niche.. Interact with them... Place ads on these platforms which target these groups, demographics etc....

In addition I also recommend that you build your list and use that as a means to develop a relationship and use as a basis to promote products, make money....

That's a brief run down.... and obviously a lot more to this... but above all keep your focus with a targeted approach .... and with that action and consistency is the key!

Nice tips :)

1) Identify your ideal customer
3) Implement monetization
I don't understand 2 these points, maybe they are too short. Would you mind giving me any explanations?

Hi KellyLC,

That's a good point... For sure I'll try elaborate a bit more....

1. Identifying your ideal customer comes down to the following:

>What are their pain points? With that you can identify needed benefits which fits into products that you promote...
>Personally I find it helpful to build an avatar describing the person.... with regards to a typical profile which I then use as part of targeting e.g. with ads as well as written content etc. So for example lets say you're promoting an acne product.... You may find from researching online the following are the common attributes (this is top of my head but hopefully you get the idea):

name: Jane Doe
gender: female
age: 16-28 years old
pain points: lack of social confidence, self-esteem, can't find beauty products, ..... blah
interests: yoga, eating healthy (or wanting to), reading
job: currently studying or just out of university with first job

You can of course create other avatars.... But when you do be aware that you may need to develop different types of content, ad campaigns etc. which would attract them....

Once you have such a picture of this person you can develop your content for them (noting to do keyword research as well with regards to traffic numbers) e.g.

- How to deal with Social confidence when you have acne...
- What are the best beauty products for acne sufferers
- Can yoga really help with overcoming acne?
- My top 20 tips for eating healthy as an acne sufferer
- Dealing with the job interview as an acne sufferer

> As you can see now that I have the avatar of this person.... I'm now able to develop specific content which targets my avatar..... In addition I'm far better able to identify additional products which will interest them other than the obvious acne cures e.g. eating healthy, dieting, beauty and make-up etc....

In my opinion it is far better to target and write for your identified demographic than to guess work it... you need to understand them, feel their pain and in turn you can help them! Through that you'll build trust and with that the much improved ability to earn online.... In addition you can adjust your website design, marketing promo's etc which best fits into your avatar profile which will help with achieving a higher conversion rate ....

2. Regarding monetization.... Well think about the products which you can promote.. Its either affiliate stuff such as on Clickbank, Amazon, CJ etc... Perhaps you want to develop an ebook and sell it? There are loads of ways to monetize your website from ads, product promotion (affiliate, vendor) etc.... Saying that when doing so - make sure that it fits with your description of your ideal customer AKA the avatar....

I sincerely hope that helps! Let me know if you want any further elaboration or clarification...

On that note best of luck!!!

The entire target audience is extremely important. you don't want to be writing/blogging just to do it. you need to make sure you are targeting the people who want to connect with you. Now blogging is great but video blogging is much better and a great way to connect to your target audience.

When I do a blog post, I also do a video and upload to youtube talking about my blog post. Basically explaining what they are going to read about in my latest blog post in under two minutes. I then let them know they can learn more over at my blog and always ask them if I can help and please do connect.

Relationship building is key to success.

If you want to attract a strong readership for your blog, it’s obvious that you need to create great content. But that’s not sufficient: amazing content that doesnt get read might as well not exist.
1.) Incorporate social influencers into your blog posts
2.) Add a link to your latest article in your Twitter bio and ask for retweets.
3.) Send your article out in a blast email or newsletter to your contacts.
4.) Add a link into your email signature inviting people to read your latest blog post.
5.) Send your blog post to relevant people/organizations/blogs that would be interested in reading it and sharing it with their networks.
6.) Send your blog post out to any person or entity mentioned.
7.) Share your article on other social networks.
8.) Share your article on social bookmarking sites.
9.) Tweet your post multiple times, with different teaser quotes.
10.) Make your blog SEO friendly.
