Indexing WordPress blog categories

I own WP blog which has 12 categories and I plan to index category pages. (No pagination)

Question is:

Is there any obstacle for this if I add unique excerpt for every article, so that would be page with unique content?
Is that smart move bearing in mind that it is large work, can I expect some benefits in local search results?
Is this approach risky too much because of new updates in Google algo?
Just for the record that I use All in One SEO pack plugin for SEO.

Hiya Danny83,

There should be no problems with this, provided your website has these links which sorts the information out in categories... As you are using wordpress then adding/displaying categories is easy... I also assume G would have already crawled your site and indexed the categories .... Just search type in your category URL's to G's search pages and I am sure you will see them indexed....

Adding a unique excerpt is good too in my opinion as you are consolidating info on the category page... You're creating more internal links and providing better info to G's crawlers as you demonstrate the semantic relationship between keywords etc... So I would do this...

It depends on you, you can target your visitors at your contry or global visitors on search engines. Which you give on your site which you will get.

Are you mentioning to google algorithms? and what you think it's risky on your site?
