Can we earn money from Affiliate Marketing?

Today I was just thinking about how does Affiliate Marketing works? I have heard many people, who promote their business through affiliate marketing. Also they earn money by affiliate marketing.

I already knew that affiliate marketing is not a business. It is rather a strategy used to promote a business. Business owners host an affiliate program. They reward the affiliate, for bringing visitors or customers to their business. But I am wondering, how could we earn money from affiliate marketing? Do you have any idea about it?

For me affiliate marketing is bread butter with regards to internet marketing.. I recommend before you even start selling your own products that one should learn affiliate marketing as the experience gained is hugely important when it comes to developing and promoting your own stuff... For me I treat affiliate marketing as a business... I spend money on contractors/freelancers, ads, I monitor campaigns and assess ROI... I truly believe for IM to be a success one should treat it as a business....

That aside - if you are new to affiliate marketing then you need to do your own research and learning... and most importantly learning from your own experiences and failures... I recommend the following:

1. Start a website on a niche which you are passionate about.... Write great content and provide value.
2. Build an email list. Offer a free bonus on sign-up as an incentive. Use your list over time to promote your affiliate offers, but making sure to provide helpful advice... i.e. build a relationship of trust first and do not bombard your list with sales pitch after sales pitch as that will kill your list...
3. Find products which fit into the niche. Write product reviews... and promote it...

That's the basics - but this is a complex, rich subject with many moving parts... and as mentioned one can only truly understand this through research and practical hands-on experience... finally there are many people making a profitable living as affiliate marketers... Noting that more than 90% do fail... Entry level is easy - but making it work is hard! I personally would start of with Clickbank as its free and open to join and they have many products across many niches...

Thanks @elcidofaguy for guiding me about affiliate marketing. Now I am going to learn affiliate marketing. Then I would think of applying it on my business. As you said above, I would create a website and then an email list. Also I would like to try Clickbank. Hope I will gain good knowledge about affiliate marketing, by working on ClickBank.

Create something unique. Be creative. There are so many affiliates sites out there that does not give any real value. If you want to succeed big time in affiliate marketing you have to be original. Solve a problem for people and don't just copy other smaller affiliate sites.

Your knowledge regarding affiliate marketing seems to be very limited. I know people who are making $30k per day with affiliate marketing. I think you should take up a course on affiliate marketing before you start but don't buy anything you see.You can start with Mark link's Affilorama Free version to get the basic knowledge about affiliate marketing.
