Do external links affect keyword rankings on search engines?

I would ask this question because more blog sites are linking out to external website..ie link exchange, backlinks building..and my blog are having some external links on it. Just want to know if external links affect keyword rankings on search engines or not if I put them or remove external links on my blog site?

They will only affect your rankings if they are DoFollow because your site will pass some of it's authority signals and link juice to those sites. If it's just a few links then it won't have too much effect on your rankings but if there's too many links then that will definitely affect your rankings if the links are DoFollow.

Whenever you link to other sites make sure you also link to your homepage or somewhere on your site to keep some of the link juice, especially where you do link exchanges.

All I can say is if your backlinks are from good authority sites with high PR and looks natural with the mixture of dofollow and nofollow types then your site can rank quite easily.

Google loves to see the backlinks grow gradually with a continue process. It should look like your site getting popular to show it on the first page.

The question is all about creating external links not creating backlinks for your site. Just letting you know so that no one else misunderstand the question and end up talking about off-page seo

External Link doesn't effect keyword ranking. make sure external link should authority website or domain.

External links are having effect on the SEO. If you are linking to quality contents than your page rank will also get higher. If you are having too much external links from a page than it will also leave a bad effect on seo. Few outgoing links toward quality site and content will give you a positive ranking ...
