Does a DMOZ listing affect my Google search engine ranking?

I just want to know if my site get listed in Dmoz directory then it can improve Google search engine ranking or not?
If yes, why?

Dmoz is the most popular web directories on the internet. Dmoz is maintained by a group of volunteers. The volunteers are responsible for reviewing the site and listing them in the Dmoz directory.

But In a recent Webmaster Help video Matt Cutts says that Dmoz listing no longer has the importance it once had for Search Engine Optimization.

Yes DMOZ in the past had an effect, but it's just another directory to the bot at this point. It used to be a great directory to get into if you could. With Google's algorithm this does not impact as much as it did in the past. Does not mean you shouldn't submit your website on DMOZ. It's always great to build high quality links and submit to directories that make sense for your business.

t's hard. I was *told* the best way to get listed on Dmoz is to know/pay an editor. I have tried getting my site on Dmoz for 6 years now...

I can't comment on the traffic, but getting on Dmoz sure is desirable. You can pay $200 to Yahoo to suggest your site. i heard good things about that, but the scary part is if they reject your site, you don't get your money back. And your $200 only gets you one year on Yahoo. You'll have to pay another $200 to yahoo next year.

Unless they changed their policy now.

It's not easy to get a link on Dmoz directory but if you get a link on it you will see the changes in the google ranking for a long term because Dmoz is one of the best directory which is recommended by the google and google also follow them as well.

Ya, but not only Dmoz change your site ranking. No doubt it is one of the best directory submission sites. If you make back link from high PR with quality site then that will improve ranking.
