Wordpress is the most used software now to make blogs. It is also used to make websites these days. It is very easy to set up and very easy to manage a website with. Do you like it? What do you like and dislike? I love how easy it is to find mods and themes for it, there are so many and a lot are free.

I have 2 custom sites and the rest is built from Wordpress cms.

I like its plugins and themes of wordpress, if lacking of 2 these parts, WordPress couldn't be popular like it did today.

I agree, the plugins make them popular. The thing is, they make it so easy to use. A lot of people want to make a website but are not skilled in that industry so they need something simple that works well, and this is what Wordpress does well. Very easy for a lot of people to use and good documentation for developers, too.

Wordpress is a good platform. Lots of themes and plugins and incredibly popular.

My only problems with Wordpress, aren't really problems with the platform, but with the people that use it.

1) Huge security risks if not properly updated and managed. There are always security updates coming out. Some will apply the new updates, many will not. With millions of Wordpress sites out there, hackers know that if they can hack one Wordpress site, they have potentially hacked millions of sites at the same time as they can apply the same exploit to the other sites running the same version.

2) The so called "developers" that charge customers a premium for a website, and they simply install Wordpress and a few plugins. I can't tellyou how many custom web development jobs we have done for customers who's original developer convinced them they should use Wordpress, then found out that was not the best way to go!

This is so true. I have a little story to tell about this issue. I work for a web development team at my university and (I shouldnt say this but oops) They use Wordpress and I saw the brief which had my specific tasks on and they had included the price in the brief -.- Why would you do that? It came into the thousands and all we did was set up a Wordpress CMS on a server (their own server so no big costs) and then set up a few plugins and away they go. I knwo I am a part of it, but I am astudent and it is not my fault really. I have advised moving away from WP as the company should be helping studnets learn how to make a website in the real world, but it seems to me that is hwat people are doing now, using Wordpress... :/

It is hugely extensible with plugins and has a very large community support group. That makes it the best in my opinion.
