SSL is important to stop Man-In-The-Middle (MITM) attacks. Not just for payment reasons. Under Ye Olde Unencrypted HTTP, a potential attacker could well insert ads, or worse... into your website and cause problems. SSL, and HTTPS, stop this from occuring.SSL is an end-to-end web encryption method that protects websites and customers from such attacks as man-in-the-middle attacks that could result in customers credit card information being stolen. It is a requirement of any payment processor to have a SSL certificate in place on your website.
Largely, yes. The prime requirement of an SSL is that it is trusted by the browser. An Extended-Validation certificate (which until recently, displayed the name of the company that had purchased it in the address bar) was seen as a necessity for banks and payment providers. Again, if you're not processing payments (and, you really shouldn't be), then a free SSL will do you fine.Is free SSL consider the same as the paid...?
