It really depends on the quality of backlinks that you have there. ou need to ensure that is a dofollow link so that it can create an impact with the search ranking of your website. Also you must take into consideration the keywords that you will use. Make sure that you backlinks has a direct relevant to your website. SEO is a long process, outcome can be unpredictable, but usually it takes a month for you to know whether it creates an effect or not.

It totally depends on the website. If you have created back-link on .org, .edu or .gov, your ranking will be effected very soon. But exact time or days cannot be specify.

Just curious, but how could you possibly have measured that?
I would like to know it too.

Good God. I am starting to understand why @SEOPub loses patience with people sometimes.

I use backlink monitoring services. Look for "MonitorBacklinks dot com" that allows you to track your ranking and backlinks.

I found monitor backlinks, but it doesn't seem to be free. It has 30 days trial, do you know any other that is free?

Based on my experience, it depends on the site you're linking to. That's why a lot of people used to like putting up content on popular article directories back-in-the-day (before they got hit hard by the changes in the search engine algorithms). Even if you link to a high-quality site, ranking doesn't happen immediately. It will still take a couple of days to see your page in the search engines and to start moving up in the rankings (depends on how often the bots crawl the site you link to). If you're starting a site from scratch on your own domain, it can take like a week, depending on the competition and stuff. There are a number of things to consider.

Every Backlink monitoring service needs you to pay them. I've looked over all of 'em told me to get your trial and pay later!

Which has nothing to do with how you measured this...

Usually up to 3-4 days as I have experienced. All my backlinks took effect in three or 4 days (some took even a week!).
Backlink monitoring services have nothing to do with what Google sees, when they see it, or how they incorporate that data.

I'll put it more bluntly... Your statement that links usually take up to 3-4 days to have an influence on rankings is something you just made up with no actual evidence.

High quality backlinks boost your ranking quickly. You simply did not measure the accurate time frame of getting ranking.

There a lot of things it depends on but to repeat what has already been said over and over in this thread would be sort of redundant, but keywords in the link, quality of said link and other roles in your content such as:

Where it leads to

If the content has links back to where the original back link was placed

Are there keywords in the content to match the purpose of the back link

and so on.

It depends on many factors so I don't really think there is a one side or the other answer here.

I think you get the idea.

Wow. With such confidence it was said 3-4 days? It can take days, weeks! Whether you use an indexing service has no bearing! Of course, it could help, but what Google does and WHEN it does it, is out of everyone's hands!!! I used to see links indexed within days. These days? 2-6 weeks. It is what it is. Patience has become the name of the game.

Can you TRY to speed the process? Try, being the key word, sure.

98967878564352341233423453466745534.43 seconds to be precise! :D

Seriously though, it all depends on so many factors, and we simply don't know what all those factors are.

First Google has to visit/crawl that page and then find your link and index it.

Then it has to update all of its data centres which doesn't happen all at once.

Then it has to change your ranking position based on the link its found, what type of link it is, whether its a related link or not, how old it is, how old the site/page its on is.

And that just about covers the basics. And that can take anywhere from 1 week to 60 days+.

Meanwhile, while you're thinking about how long it will take before that link becomes effective.

You could have spent that time building more effective links!
