Hmm, ok.

Sometimes it can take a while for your site to get indexed, but here are a few things to check:

If you're using Wordpress, go to settings -> reading -> and make sure the 'discourage search engines from indexing this site' box is NOT checked.

Also, make sure you have a good SEO plugin installed like Yoast SEO, All in One SEO Pack or Project Supremacy (paid plugin)

Next, add your site to Google Webmaster tools and add a sitemap.

If you're using Wordpress but don't have a SEO plugin installed, then you can install Google XML sitemaps to generate a sitemap and put the sitemap url in Webmaster tools.

Next, choose how you want your site to appear in Google (www or non www version)

If you've already done all of that, then the only thing that you can do is wait.

You can use the 'fetch' option in Google Webmaster tools to force google to recrawl your site as well.

Hope this helps.

I would skip all those steps initially and just go to the Google search bar. Type in "site:yourdomainnamehere.com".

Without the quotes.

If it doesn't show up, it is not indexed. The way you searched for it, it just might not be ranking anywhere.

If it does show up, Google has indexed the domain.

If it is not indexed, and it has been at least a few weeks, then you start troubleshooting.

Stick it into Webmaster Tools (Google Search Console). Wait a few days and see if any message show up indicating it has a manual penalty on it. This can often happen if you bought a domain that was previously owned.

I wouldn't bother with a sitemap. You can, but really unless you have a few hundred pages, or a horribly designed website, they are not necessary.

I would check your pages and make sure you have not labeled them as "noindex". I have seen a lot of people do that.

As mentioned above, also check your robots.txt file. I would scan the .htaccess file as well.

This means that the particular domain is not getting indexed in search engine. If this is a new domain then wait for some time, it will definitely start appearing otherwise if it is an old one then it might be a serious issue of penalty.

Website indexing and crawling

What is the average time which crawlers take to index the new domain?
Nothing can be said particularly about when a domain or URL will be crawled or index. It may take a few hours or may take weeks or months even to get crawled. there are several factors that affect the indexing and crawling of a website. These factors are

1) Website design might make crawling and indexing difficult
2) There may be situation that website is temporarily unavailable at the time of crawling
3) May be website has been moved to a new address or has been hacked by someone.

What does it mean if nothing appears on doing search on the domain?
It probably means someone bought a domain and have hosted it but have not uploaded no files. It could also mean that the domain is bought but is not hosted yet. It could also mean nobody have bought the domain or owns the domain and it is for sale.
