I've had a ton of success outsourcing content, but only using 1-2 authors for the same website. Reason for this is unique authors develop their own tones and I've noticed that readers not always align with a brand or specific website, but with the author of the website itself. When using multiple writers, the tone varies significantly and can be a turn-off for many readers.

The size of the site has a big part to do with this. Larger sites can and probably will need to have multiple authors while smaller, simpler blogs should have the same writer for the reason stated above.
