Hello All,

Having an issue with Google Ads. My ads all stop running if I change my conversion strategy to "maximize conversions". If I choose a strategy of "maximize clicks" then I get traffic to my site, but it's poor quality as users bounce after landing on my landing page. Maximize Conversions was working previously for about a week before completely stopping all clicks and impressions. Traffic I was getting from Maximize Conversions was higher quality, as these users were actually browsing my site instead of just bouncing after hitting the landing page.

Going to the troubleshooter inside of Google Ads, when I search for one of my keywords I get the error "We don’t know why your ads aren’t showing for this search" when trying to maximize conversions.

Any ideas why this strategy might result in ads not running at all?

It sounds like your campaign might have hit a snag with the "maximize conversions" strategy, which can happen for a few reasons. One common cause could be that Google Ads needs more conversion data to optimize effectively. If you don’t have enough recent conversions, the system might struggle to know how to bid for conversions, which could explain why your ads aren’t showing.

Another possibility is your daily budget or bid limits. With "maximize conversions," Google tends to prioritize quality over quantity, and if your budget or bids aren’t aligned with the conversion costs, your ads might not enter the auction.

You could try adjusting your budget or allowing more time for the algorithm to gather data. Also, check your account for any restrictions like limited budget, low quality score, or bid caps that could be holding back your ads from being shown.

If it was working before and then suddenly stopped, reviewing any recent changes made in your campaign, keyword match types, or negative keywords might also help.

It sounds like the issue might be related to either your budget or bid settings when using "Maximize Conversions." Google may not find enough opportunities within your bid limits to deliver impressions or clicks. You might want to check if your budget is sufficient or consider adjusting your target CPA. Also, have you tried using "Target CPA" instead of "Maximize Conversions" to give Google clearer guidance on acceptable bids?

Does your ad relevance and quality score seem fine for your keywords?

Maximize Conversions attempts to optimize for the highest possible number of conversions within your budget. If your budget is too low, or if there was a fluctuation in conversion rates or costs, the algorithm might stop showing your ads altogether. Ensure you have a suitable daily budget to support your goals.
