Hi webmasters,
I've lost some organic traffic to two of my sites in the past month. This is due to a drop in rankings on multiple keywords. Nothing strange there.
What I think is a little more strange is that I've lost the same number of visitors to direct traffic during the same period. So I have lost about 500-600 visitors per site in direct traffic suddenly. It's not about that I done any advertising or marketed the sites somewhere, but rather, I have written to direct traffic to people who have bookmarked or remembered pages etc.. So the question then is: why go direct traffic down at the same rate as the organic?
The best guess I have is that many people googling my keyword type in the url directly instead of clicking on the search result. Are not entirely convinced of this, however.
Anybody have another reasonable explanation or similar experiences?
Regards,
Robert
