What code editor use and why? I Use Sublime Text because for me is the best editor with The Package Control and the fast of the editor, and the multi-plattform (Windows,OS X,Linux)
For me it really depends, as i am working as an OS developer so i usually have to deal with huge gigantic projects, such as ubuntu source code, or Linux full source code, and as experienced opening such projects in IDEs such as Visual Studio, or any similar ones (don't remember the names) really caused them to crash and most of them didn't even successfully manage to open those big projects, so instead i use Eclipse for C/C++, it's a great IDE, has syntax highlight, editing snepits, code referencing, advanced files and code indexing, which makes it easier for me to work with giant projects without the need to really re check my projects files always to see if i inputted a method's name correctly or didn't. plus the surprising fact that eclipse being made using Java, somehow the IBM group behind it really managed to control memory usage, and it consumes less memory while opening 10s of giant projects at the same time (each with 10s of millions of lines of code) than Visual Studio when opening a tiny .NET project or worse opening an MFC C++ project.

Personally, I use jedit for PHP web development at work and for PHP and Python development at home, and vim for C/C++. Jedit is a modular JRE based IDE that supports numerous useful plugins. Vim... well, vim is just vim.

I like Eclipse because it supports many languages and platforms. On Eclipse I can do web development, Android apps and desktop applications, all in just one IDE.

For an IDE I like Netbeans and Eclipse. However, if you're talking about text editors I highly recommend Brackets and Notepad++. I also use Synwrite from time-to-time as it's lightweight and a nice change when I am tired of looking at the others.

If you're using Linux then go with Brackets, you will not be disappointed.

My all time favorite text editor for writing HTML markup, CSS, and JS code is Sublime Text 2. It's a very easy editor to use and much better than Text Edit on a Macbook. It allows me to use different skins and helps me to spot errors a heck of a lot quicker than most others. I've tried using Dreamweaver but I didn't like it nearly as much as Sublime. I highly recommend Sublime Text to anyone who's writing any kind of "code" for the Web.

Sublime Text for me is undoubtedly the best code editor because it's simple and powerful user interface, high speed, great plugin management, low memory consumption and small size.

I use my self different programs.

For HTML and PHP i use wordpad, for scripts i use notepad++ witch is easy to find a line if one is wrong. I've trying to find more of this nice programs to edit them, but the problem with notepad is that you can use 1 edited changes only and with Wordpress can you switch back from the begin when you opening it. So i prefer wordpad, to look the features you can open witch a browser and PHP does not work. Only you upload it on a server.
