CentOS or Ubuntu, which is better for an unmanaged VPS hosting?

Hi,
I am getting confused between choosing CentOS and Ubuntu OS, which is better for unmanaged VPS hosting?
For previous hosting package, I am choosing Centos for my vps but I am wondering if Ubuntu is better?

CentOS is more widely used for web servers over Ubuntu.

However, since you mentioned you have a unmanaged VPS, which one you are more familiar/comfortable with should play in also!

If you are not familiar with Ubuntu go with CentOS as its unmanaged VPS.

The basic differences between CentOS and Ubuntu is CentOS is based off of Red Hat and Ubuntu is based off of Debian.
Most here will vote for CentOS as most of us uses cPanel. And cPanel do not support Ubuntu.

Centos/RHEL is also more adapted for a wider variety of software packages, as the name states, it is an Enterprise Linux and its specific purpose is that of running servers. Ubuntu/Debian are more geared towards being Desktop based operating systems, in fact, Ubuntu was initially developed and distributed utilizing the Gnome desktop environment. If you're looking to introduce Linux into your home and use it for day-to-day tasks, that is what Ubuntu is built for, however, the same can not be said for CentOS/RHEL.

I can not think of one reason to run Ubuntu in a server environment. Debian is one thing, and can actually rather comfortably be used as a server OS - but I'd still prefer CentOS or CloudLinux (which really is CentOS, but with some vast improvements kernelside).
